Challenge:

Transporting fuel from the terminal to the retail store incurs costs that our client wanted to improve on. YTP worked with the client, performed deep dives into their business and operational processes, identified areas of improvement and utilized its strength in software development to provide tools to eliminate quality issues as well improve efficiency.

Approach:

Understand end to end business intent Deep dive into operational steps, with SIPOC analysis Interviews with staff at several touch points of the process to understand where issues arise.

Solution:

YTP drew on its expertise in mobile application development to

• Automate data gathering such as automated filling out of forms.
• Using GPS to detect where the truck was on its route and provide appropriate prompts to ease the data entry process.
• Use OCR and related technologies to automatically pre-fill forms such as bills of lading.
• Synchronize and orchestrate information across vendor and in-house systems to eliminate empty runs of the trucks.
• Build flexibility into the solution from day 1, to enable the organization to customize the business logic within app without needing a restart on the part of the drivers.

Benefits to the customer:

The cost savings realized by the customer were several times the cost spent on getting the
product built.
A testament to the quality of the product is the fact that what was meant to be a small scale
proof of concept lasting a few months turned into a multi year relationship benefiting several
departments.
YTP drove adoption of the solution across other product areas and demonstrated our focus on
solving our customer’s challenges as though they were our own.
